Number 25

Yes its 25 years for us. The neat thing for us is that because we were youngins' when we got married we get to celebrate as youngins'. Roger is 43 and I'm 44.
Since Roger got laid off right before we were going to leave on a week long adventure we had to change that plan. So we downsized to a couple of days and decided that we'd go to Collingwood where we spent part of our honeymoon. I do love it there so much, I always have.

The views are always beautiful, no matter what the weather. (rain had just gone through and you can see it in the distance as it carries on) I sometimes wonder why I haven't moved here yet.

Here we had just finished doing an amazing zipline ride down the mountain. I would encourage everyone to do this at least once in their lifetime.

As we were driving home I said how fortunate we are to be able to drive for two hours to find this.

And this.

Although not the trip originally planned, it was still just plain wonderful.:)

Why do I do these Things?

I bought a church pew. I have no idea why I bought a church pew. Its big and takes up an enormous amount of space, which are things that didn't come to mind when I bought it. It came home the other night and I really had to give my head a shake. I declared "No more. I will not buy another thing until everything is done and out of my house." Roger was thrilled with this statement, but also is skeptical. Hopefully, I do not let in to my weakness. Hopefully.

See its just plain big....

But then there is that something that I see when I look at it. Its curves. Its carvings, and think wouldn't it be great in my imaginary shop with pillows lining the seat to choose from or aprons hung over the back ready to try on. Maybe someday or maybe I will find some other use for it in my house. :)

Milk Paint

Right now I as write there is a buzz flowing through the internet world about using Milk Paint.

Miss Mustard Seed brought it back to the attention of many, when a Canadian Company Homestead House, ask her to create her own line of colours. If you check out her website you'll see why she was asked.

Now to get on the milk paint band wagon I ordered a few colours myself to see what all the fuss was about. Instead of ordering her colours though, I went for the more Canadian colours.

First up "Autumn Leaves".

I bought this chair at a yard sale this past summer, thinking it would be a good candidate.

So without much prepping I began my experiment.
Milk paint it the weirdest thing I've ever used, not to mention that it has a very funky smell like concrete, which I think is because it has limestone in it. But I could be totally wrong and be blowing smoke up your skirt. You also mix it up yourself because it comes in a powder.

Now its supposed to give you a very chippy worn look to the things you paint, but have been told the paint also has a mind of its own and will do exactly what it pleases.
So here is the result.

As you can see the legs were really the only thing that was chipping to any extent, but when I looked at the befores and afters I really like how this turned out.

I have three more colours to use somewhere and can't wait to see the results. :)

Summer, Autumn and Granny Squares

I'm not sure who the coined the phrase "The Lazy Days of Summer" but thats not what happened to us this summer. Between canning, sweating, reno's, sweating, whirlwind camping trips and sweating, most of our appliances revolting to do their job anymore, our summer moved at the speed of light.
Our days seemed exhausting and not at all the restful summer I always hope for, but never seem to manage.

Now that Fall is upon us things have well... not slowed down. I did however start work on a fall sweater just for me. I'd work on it in the few hours before going to bed and finished it up the other day.

Here is the lovely M'lynn modeling said sweater for me. (As I was about to take some pictures my camera reminded me that its batteries needed charging(argh) so I grabbed my phone instead.)

I've always liked the look of granny squares and when looking on the internet for some inspiration I came across a couple of granny square sweaters and thought, what the hey! For this sweater there is no pattern. I made it up as I went along, but thats the beauty I find of the granny square. Easy peasy. And I now have something new to add to my very tired wardrobe.:)

Its back!

It came home today!!! We've been hanging out for a while now, catching up on the latest. Can't tell you how freaked I was when I found it sputtering for air last week. But after a week of being in the hospital at the Apple Store it has come home and its better then it was before.

We don't want to over do it on night one, so I think I better let it rest now.:)
