Miss Purple

Here is "Miss Purple" now complete.

She was a trial to say the least. Weeks of waiting for supplies. Sewing and then re-sewing. Just a heads up, you really have to like sewing to want to re-upholster a chair.

I shall remind you at one time she looked like this.

Just nasty, and a challenge. When I decided that I was going to do this chair, I had no idea that it would result in this. She was taken right down to the frame. I had to read and read to find out what the heck I was doing and Youtube videos were a big help during the spring stage.

With all the extras I needed to buy, this chair still came in under a $100. Which is better than the $500 I was quoted to have this chair re-upholstered. That was sight unseen. It may have cost me more since everything on this chair was garbage, except the springs. She is practically brand new, and it makes me happy that she now has a new life in my new little girls room.  :)

A Home of their Own

Yesterday I picked up this little beauty. Now, my husband doesn't know this yet because he hasn't been home this week from work.( he works 4 days on 4 days off and rents a room) I've been asked nicely by him to hold off buying furniture for now.
But how could I leave this little gem without a home to call its own? I'm sure tonight when he comes home he will totally understand, that it just needed me.

These also needed to come home with me.

These almost didn't make it home with me. Actually they didn't make it home with me at all.
As I was walking out after my love seat purchase I eyed these little lovelies sitting high on a shelf. I asked my daughter if she saw those cute green lamps up there and I said I should get those, but proceeded to walk out the door and left.
I talked about them the whole way home.
My other daughter came over for a visit and I again talked about the lamps, and how dumb I was to leave them behind.
As fate would have it, she was going to town. I gave her money and she picked them up.
I'm sure you can see why I couldn't leave these behind either. Just look at that green colour. It shouts SPRING!! That and green apples, which are yummy.

On a totally different note, Miss Purple which she has now been named, it just about finished. She should have her picture taken later today. I will remind you that she looked like this when I started.

She has been a challenge, but when I look at her sitting there now, she has been worth it.:)

Dream a little Dream

I am a lucky girl. My sister and brother-in-law sell real estate, and sometimes when when I'm feeling nostalgic, they indulge me by taking me to look at something farm-ish. Sometimes it's a small country property and sometimes its large. Yesterday was one of those days that is was large, so large it took almost 2 hours to walk it.

This one however was a little special and more then I could have imagined.

It was absolutely beautiful, peaceful and amazing. I mean, who wouldn't want a little piece of heaven on earth.

Checking out the fish. We saw a lovely little trout swim by.

But there is some openness too. There is a trail, that goes back to the bush that we walked. It took us too the river. Sigh....

Along the way we found a little hidden field tucked away in the bush. Isaac had to see what was on the other side. It was just more amazingness.

I shall dream my little dream for the next couple of days and think of all the things that could be. Then in time they'll show me something new and I'll get to dream all over. I like dreaming.:)

A little on the Side.

I've got about 4 projects on the go right now, so I thought I'd add one more on the side. This one was something I wanted to build for me, but I was happy it found a new home and I can always build myself another.
It started life as a door, Just a plain little old door, found at Habitat, that wanted to come home with me.       Then it sat waiting for me to do something to it, so one day we did.

We began adding a little of this and a little of that until it looked like this.

Its now patiently waiting for its coat of paint. What we spray painted black was some brass door knobs and some hinges. You'll see why in a minute.

See, it would have looked silly if I had left them all shiny and new looking.

And it has a little seat that we built on the bottom.

It could store some mitts and stuff. In our case I'd love to put dog accessories in there for a quick grab on the way out the door.

And a quick check in the mirror.

You may notice some extra hooks in the middle that if you sat and put your boots on, it would give you a nice clunk in the head. Since this piece found its new home at The Garden Gate it will be used for display, thus extra hooks.
And those hooks we bought for it, came from Lucan Architectural. I like that store......a lot.

Thats the story of the door, thats now a Hall Tree.
       I like Happy Endings!:)

I like so many around me have been struck with some nasty virus which has literally drained the life force from my body and left me trying to take many naps to get rid of it. Yesterday I popped in Lady and the Tramp and promptly fell asleep for an hour. Today which is a  beautiful, warm day will be lost for me since I'll be looking for the couch soon, with a pillow to curl up with, but before I do that, I'll show you how far I am with the chair. I was hoping to work on it today but I'm finding small projects to handle which require sitting, instead.lol
And now Photoshop is not working properly and I'm too tired to scream, but here they are anyway.

All new webbing. The old stuff fell apart when you touched it.

All my little springs sewn in place and ready to be tied.

Tied with curve appeal. This will give the chair its shape.

With the burlap now over top and stapled into position you can see that the chair is now taking shape. As far as I can tell and from what books I've read, and videos I've watched, I'm pretty close to doing it properly. But the end result will be the tell tale sign.

For now, the couch is calling.:)

I'm so Excited!

I've been keeping this under wraps, but now I can tell you all!

The Garden Gate in Grand Bend will now be selling some of my furniture. I can't tell you how over the moon I am. I want to go back and take some pictures  to share with you, when the lovely ladies there have it in place, and display some of the lovely things they sell. Lovely just lovely.

Oh and I have a new look!(if you didn't notice) Amy spent her Saturday afternoon fixing and repositioning things on my blog. I think she did a bang up job!

Ok... now back to earth. My supplies came in for my chair and I'll be working on that, this afternoon, and hopefully get some shots as I progress along the way.

So many new things!! Eeeekkk. I'm still so excited.:)
